Who is Tony Robbins?
Tony Robbins morning routine to prime you for success

Wake up on time
Morning routines begin the night before and Tony’s sleep schedule is something that I have never seen before. Tony only gets around 3 to 5 hours of sleep a night starting at 4am, making him wake up between 7am and 9am. Unlike many successful people, Tony isn’t an early riser, instead, he’s a night owl which many people find relatable.

10 Minute priming ritual
Before we delve into how you can practice this ritual, it is important to firstly know what priming is and how it can impact your life in a positive way.
What is priming?
Put simply, priming is the method of using a stimulus to change a person’s behavior through, speech, action, image or thought. An example of this could be road signs, if you saw that you were driving in a pedestrian area you are more likely to drive slowly. This can be seen in many aspects of life and can be used for the good or the bad.
In Tony’s case, it’s all about changing his thoughts and emotions so that he can live in his peak state. By engaging in this practice it helps him build momentum and start his day with the right attitude. So how can you do this.
How to practice Tony Robbins morning priming ritual
This exercise can be split into 3 sections; breathing, gratitude and visualization, this helps him to set the right intention and feel energized throughout the day.
Tony Robbins breathing exercise – 1 minute
The breathing exercise which Tony uses is very similar to a breathing technique called the breath of fire. What he does is sit down comfortably with a straight back and his eyes closed. Unlike traditional meditation, he inhales through his nose quickly whilst punching the air with open palms and then forcefully exhaling whilst bringing his arms back down in a shoulder press motion.
This is done in 3 sets consisting of 30 with a small break in between where he rests his hands on his legs with his palms facing upwards.
Expressing gratitude and connection to others – 6 minutes
The next step is to express gratitude for your life. For the next 3 minutes, you think of three things that you are grateful for and give each of them I minute of your time. You have to go within yourself remember exactly what it was like in the moment.
Then after this imagine a bright light that has healing and energizing powers coming down from above and entering the crown of your head and then entering every part of your body down to your toes until you feel rooted. Then imagine this force climbing back up your body and exiting out of your skull. Repeat this several times feeling stronger every time.
At the peak of this feeling after roughly 3 minutes, imagine all of this energy going to your heart and then exploding to reach others. Think of it making the world and the ones you love stronger and healed from their pain and adversity’s.
Visualization of success – 3 minutes
The last section is all about visualizing success and the things he wants achieve in the future. To do this Tony imagines 3 of his goals that he wants make a reality, giving each of them 1 minute. Instead of just focusing on the goals, you have to visualize yourself already having achieved them, celebrating your success!
15 Minute intense workout routine
When it comes to exercise, Tony’s aim is to get the greatest results with the least amount of time or energy and that’s why he does an intense fifteen minute session, to stay at peak performance.
After stretching out Tony starts his workout with his osteostrong machine, which he is part owner of. An osteostrong machine focuses on skeletal health as it is the foundation of our physical health, it is said to improve bone density. Tony uses this machine for around 5 minutes.
Then it’s on to the ROM machine which is like an all in one exercise machine that works on both aerobic and aerobic endurance. In the 4 minutes you spend on this thing, it will push you to your limits. He usually uses this two to three times a week and on the other days, he uses traditional gym equipment.
Post work-out recovery
After engaging in an intense workout, it is important to put your body back in to it’s neutral state. Right next to where Tony lives in Fiji there is a spa where he uses the sauna and then jumps right into the cold pool which is around 57 degrees F. In recent years it has been said that he uses cryotherapy chambers which have the same effect as the cold pool but, created specifically for it’s benefits.
After this Tony uses his back inversion machine to flip him upside down and stretch him out. This is done to decompress his spine and lower his heart rate.
Most days of the week, Tony also uses his PEMF machine which is a device that delivers electric magneto frequencies throughout your body. This is said to be good for cell function, pain management and circulation.
Nutritional breakfast
Tony isn’t a foodie at all, instead he likes to keep things plain and simple, the reason for this is probably due to his busy schedule making him have to eat something quick and easy that also meet the nutritional requirements set by his personal trainer. To finish off his morning routine, he likes to have some free range eggs and organic coconut bread and then it’s time to start his 16 hour work day but, can you really call it work if you love what you do.
