How to improve yourself on a budget under £100
1. Buy Audible
One of the most well known ways to improve yourself is by reading a self improvement book. Nearly all millionaires and billionaires take time out of their day to educate themselves through some form of reading or learning and that’s why you should to! When you read a book you get to learn the lessons from the people who have reached or are reaching for the same goals as you, this allows you to have an insight on the troubles you may face on your journey and how you can resolve them in your life. If you’re an entrepreneur or a self improvement junkie like myself, you will understand how important it is to manage your time effectively and that’s where reading books can become a problem, finding 10 minutes a day to sit down and read is surprisingly quiet difficult so, to get over this obstacle that your facing is to listen to audiobooks.
Whether you are pumping iron in the gym or walking to work, it is always a great time to put your earphones in and start learning something that will help you for the rest of your life.
Audible is the world’s largest producer of audio books and arguably one of the best at it. The Amazon owned company allows you to listen to your favorite books at anytime, anyplace and all at the touch of a button! 2. Start meditating
Often with success there comes a lot of stress, in small doses this can be fine and sometimes even beneficial, however, when you experience high amounts of stress over a period of time, it can become very detrimental to your health and your productivity. One way to alleviate stress can be through mediation. There are all different forms of meditation and ways to practice it, for you to get the best outcomes, for example mindfulness meditation or Chakra healing may suit you best.
The most amazing thing about meditation is it cost you absolutely nothing to do, all you need is your mind and your breath to start meditation as a beginner!
Sometimes, when trying something totally out of your comfort zone, it can be very difficult to just do it on your own, especially with something like meditation, that’s why I think it would be very useful for you to download a guided meditation app like headspace, where someone will lead you through the process of becoming a healthier and happier version of yourself.

3. Purchase diet book
Just like taking care of your mental well-being is important, so is making an effort with your physical health. Your body is the thing that is going to take you on your journey through life so, it is important to keep your vessel in it’s optimal state. There are many different diets out there, some good and others that aren’t that good, which can become very confusing and daunting especially when the products are branded as “healthy” even though they’re not. We’re tricked into an unhealthy lifestyle on every corner turn so, I did some research and came across a guy called Ali. Ali is a Qualified personal trainer, life coach and all around amazing guy, so much so, I now class him as a good friend and we’ve even collaborated on a blog post about energy boosting smoothies which you can read by clicking here.
Ali noticed that even in his healthy lifestyle there are always distractions trying to lure you into bad eating habits, every street has Chinese takeaway and even the gym has vending machines full of sugary snacks. This is when he decided to write a book on all the secrets of the trade and how you can be truly healthy, if you would like to read this book click here.
4. Do some brain picking
If you could have all the knowledge on a goal that you have had your whole life for just £4 would you? All the answers to your questions, for just a bit of time and some change, would it be worth it? Well, by brain picking someone you can with ease.
Do you know what else is £4? That’s right, a nice creamy mocha for two. although I do like to have my coffee or tea fix, I’m not just telling you the price of coffee for no reason, I’m actually telling you the principles of brain picking. One of the best ways to learn is by listening to someone who is where you want to be in life, they have all the secrets to the problems that had been holding you back. All it takes is for you to offer to buy someone’s drink in return for you having permission to pick their brain. What’s stopping you?
Price: £4 depending on quality
5. Improve your sleep
If you want to be full of energy when you wake up so you can take on all the goals you have set yourself, you need to take care of your sleep. There are so many different things that go into sleep and there is a lot of scientific research going on that is showing us how important sleep is and that’s why you should start to understand more about what helps you send them quality Z’s up.
I bet you didn’t know that the position that you sleep in can really effect the quality of it and other things such as pain, well in this blog post we go over which is the best position to sleep in and some of the research is quite interesting!
6. Start journaling
Sometimes when you are improving yourself every day, you often bring bad habits with you and don’t notice it. You feel like you’re doing everything right but, something just isn’t clicking into place and it’s holding you back from achieving your dreams. The best way to spot where things are going wrong is by Journaling, as you can look back at the things you’ve been up to and the feelings you’ve had.
The best thing about Journaling is that you can look for patterns in your life that are either benefiting you or bringing you down, for example if you feel really energetic one and realized that you drank more water, you can plan your day accordingly and on the other hand, if you realize that every time you play on your Playstation in the morning you aren’t productive for the rest of the day, you can schedule it in for after you get your work done. There are many different components to what makes good journal, from somewhere to put what you are grateful for, to a place to write down your tasks, thankfully there is an amazing journal that you can buy has everything you would ever need in it.
7. Buy a course
If you want to improve yourself, it is a great idea to start learning some new skills that you can use throughout life. There are many different ways of learning new skills and I think taking a course is one of the ways to do so. You can also get certificates and qualifications that not only help you but look good to a future employer.
Skillshare is a platform where you can watch a number of courses from all different types of genre’s that have been made by leading people in that field of work like Simon Sinek, for example. There’s literally thousands of videos on topics such as shopify and coding, anything you can think of they’re going to have a course on it.
Price: 2 months free membership then £11.58 per month
8. Network with others
If you are on a mission like myself it can become very lonely and at times your motivation will divot, which is totally normal. If you feel like this sometimes, it’s a good idea to surround yourself with people that are going to motivate you to be the best version of yourself and support you all of the way. They say that you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with so, make sure you are not wasting your energy on the wrong people.
I think it’s great to have people hold you accountable for the goals you set yourself and you can do the same for them in return. You can also learn a lot from speaking to new people, when you do, try and take at least one thing away from the conversation. You can get to know some great people on the app called meetup where you can meet like-minded people at fun events.
9. Start a YouTube/ blogs
When I write these blog posts, I often have to look at research papers to reference the knowledge that I am writing about, this can become very tiresome, especially being someone that isn’t very wordy. If you struggle to digest Information, a great way to get around it is by breaking it down into smaller chunks and combining it with something that you enjoy and this is what I like to call edutainment. Mark Rober recently spoke at a talk showing the importance of making learning fun and how we can do it, which you can watch here.
One of my favorite ways to learning something new is by watching a video about it on YouTube, the only problem that I find with YouTube is that I get overly stimulated and end up down a rabbit whole watching hundreds of videos, this is where blogs can become useful. My blog is a combination of scientific evidence, my own experiences and everything that I have learned on my own journey, all rolled up into bite-sized pieces for you to get stuck in to. I write a blog every week so be sure to come back next Saturday for a BOOST!
10. Start a new hobby
A few years ago I was in a very bad place mentally instead of staying in a depressed state, I decided to turn my struggles in to success and started brain boosted. Even though I still have my moments where I feel down in the dumps, having a project that you are accountable for helps distracts you from your problems and helps you grow discipline to leading a better life.
Although I have invested a lot of money into this business and plan on investing more, that doesn’t mean you have to. You could start a YouTube channel on your favorite topic or start playing your favorite sport. Whatever you find yourself lost in, you should do more of it.
