this is why using a vision board can be so beneficial.

What is a vision board?

A vision board is a tool used to showcase the life you desire to live in the future. It is a combination of pictures, quotes and writings of what you want, who you want to be and how you want to feel, all on one board.

Why should you create a vision board?

By creating a vision board, it helps you identify the dreams and intentions you have for your life and reminds you to make the right lifestyle choices to achieve them every time you see it. They act as a guide to keep you on track of achieving your dreams no matter what challenges you face throughout the day.

Schedule a time to start: creating the Vision Board can take a while and you will need to put your whole entire focus and attention into it So set aside some time in your day to start.

For a traditional vision board you will need:

  • A printer (that works) + access to the internet or magazines.
  • A pen
  • Scissors
  • Glue or Sellotape

How to create a vision board

  1. Map it out: With a pen or pencil, roughly map out where each section of your vision Board is going to go, Remember, you have 7 sections and you want them to be approximately the same size. Many people also like to put a quote or word in the middle to symbolize what this year represents.

  2. Find your material: This is the fun part. Find what it is that you want to put on your vision board, you can look on Pinterest and Google or even book and magazines.

  3. Print, cut and stick: This point is self explanatory. You need to print off any pictures that you have found, cut up all the quotes and pictures into the right sizes and then stick them down on to the board into their individual section.

  4. Decorate: you might want to add a few little bits of your writing, whether it be little drawings, questions or other materials. You might also want to put it into a frame.

Do vision boards actually work?

Vision boards are a tool to be used to increase your chances of your goals and ambitions come true but, you should not rely on them to make things happen nor expect them to solve all of your problems, however there is a lot of anecdotal evidence suggesting that this visualization practice does work.

Here are some tips to help increase the chance of your success.

Make it easy to see: you should place your VB somewhere that is easy to see and where you will look at it at least once a day.

Ask questions: every time that you see your board, think “How can I put myself in the position where I am entitled to get these things?” you don’t even need your board to do this when you’re driving, working or relaxing ask yourself these questions.

Break it down: now that you know what you want, break it down into more achievable steps. You can even do this on the vision board by writing down each step you need to achieve the main goal.

Work on it: You can sit around all day waiting for something to happen, or you can go out there and get it by taking action.
